Oh yes.... I'm still doing laundry! lol

Laters!

Monday, January 30, 2006

Yep.. it's Monday

::UGH!::
Laundry is piled to the roof! Not really, but there never seems to be an end to it all.... I know!!!! we could just go nakie and then I wouldn't have to worry about all this blasted laundry! umm nevermind. Scratch that.

::Moving On::
Wow.. what a weekend. We didn't do much of anything at all. Sherm and I went for groceries on Saturday. Mikey stayed home and puppy sat. On Sunday...we slept in and then did nothing again. lol yep we were slugs, but we had a good time. We all played games while watching TV.. Mikey on his XBox, Sherm on the big computer and me on my laptop. Mikey and Sherm took turns trading back and forth between the computer and video game systems. (take your pick... we have all the systems!)

::Say what?::
Speaking of the men.... I have a little mystery on my hands this morning. I want to know who those men were that left here today because they were not my men at all! These men turned off every single light in the back of the house!! I didn't know what to do when I went to make beds... it was totally dark back there... I had to turn lights on!! We're my men replaced by aliens overnight?? hmmmmm I'm sure this was a total programming fluke or glitch... it'll never happen again or I was imagining it! lol

::A little Monday funny::
Lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a Sheriffs Deputy. He thinks that he is smarter than the Deputy because he is sure that he has a better education.
He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the deputy's expense...
Deputy says, "License and registration, please."
Lawyer says, "What for?"
Deputy says, "You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign.
Lawyer says, "I slowed down, and no one was coming."
Deputy says, "You still didn't come to a complete stop. License and registration, please."
Lawyer says, "What's the difference?"
Deputy says, "The difference is, you have to come to a complete stop, that's the law. License and registration, please!"
Lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration and you give me the ticket, if not you let me go and no ticket."
Deputy says, "Exit your vehicle, sir."
At this point, the Deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the ever-loving crap out of the Lawyer and says: "DO YOU WANT ME TO STOP OR JUST SLOW DOWN?"
*giggle*

Have a happy Monday!

24!!

No, I'm not 24 years olds (I wish lol)
No, not the TV show! (never could get into it)
Well then what could I mean?

Why... the 24 hours of Daytona of course!! Not only one of the coolest races out there and it's like a really cool way to start the new racing season, but it's a sign*heavenly angels sing*... a sign that the Super Bowl of Racing is just around the corner! Yes... The Daytona 500 is almost here!! WOOHOO!!
So what is the 24 hours of Daytons?
You mean to tell me there are people out there that don't know what it is?
*sigh*
Like....It's a race... duh! *rolls eyes*
LOL
Sorry *giggle*clears throat*
Check it out here
There is an offical 24 Hours of Daytona website, but the site needed way too much updating for me to include a link to them. They didn't even have all of the drivers listed. That's pretty bad.
"You Go Girl!!" Danica Patrick is the #2 car with Nascar driver Rusty Wallace.
Other Nascar drivers in the race are Kyle Petty, Boris Said, Wally Dallenbech, Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte.. go get 'em guys.. show 'em Nascar drivers aint a bunch of rednecks!!

It's 47degrees outside and the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky. Most of the racing watched by us will be after dark tonight. Sherm and I will stay up pretty late watching into the wee hours of the morning. I'm off to get ready to go for groceries and there is a stop at Sears hardware that is long overdue.
Laters Dudes and Dudettes!!
Happy Saturday to you!

Needing a day out

So I'm taking it!
The stresses of the past few weeks... almost this whole month actually have really gotten to me. My head hurts... my forehead. My eyebrows, even though I shape them up every few days, feel like they are touching each other in the middle... the skin between my eyebrows and my ears is tight... my neck is tight and stiff... I'm tired. Thinking hurts. Thinking ringing in my ears over and over. All signs that I need some me time and signs my anxiety is going to catch up to me if I don't do something about it. I had it out with my step mom yesterday... she's got my sister fooled... I could just scream... I know she's not as sick as she's leading on. She needs to get dressed and get moving... I saw her bend over like nothing to pick up the cane she insists she needs. She knows I saw her do it.... she looked away too quick... She's done this before. She's stopping med's on her own without the Dr. telling her to and then she lies about it to the Dr... You just don't stop heart meds on your own! She kept up on that antibiotic when she should have stopped it and called her Dr right away. I just need to get out of here and away for a few hours then all this won't bother me so much.
So... I'm off to the thrift store in search of a treasure... a trinket... a "find". If not a treasure, trinket or "find" then maybe a few wool sweaters I can unravel and knit into something new... just for me :)
Please dont think I'm down or blue by reading this post.... I'm NOT... I'm at my limit at a stage just before getting down or blue. I know when I need "me" time and I'm taking it. This post just helped clear my brain of things so I can think about my little shopping trip without having any thoughts of this past month rolling around in my head... it's a "me" thing :)
Laters Dudes and Dudettes!
Have a Happy Friday!! If I find anything cool on my adventure today I'll post about it later.

ohhh there's a pretty cardinal out in the feeder *big smile* Think I'll stop at the meat market and grab some suit for the birds. It's a good day for sure.
Bye for now :)

Color this project done!

Remember this yarn?
It was my second hand spun yarn on my spindle. I posted about it a few weeks ago. Well shortly after I took it off my spindle and set the twist my step-Mom went into the hospital. I took it up with me to visit her one day. I had in mind a scarf... boring yes, but I wanted a very thin scarf and I thought this yarn would be the perfect thing for the look that I was going for... wrong! I ripped that scarf out about 5 times that day in the hospital and I stopped messing with it for about a week or so. I knew whatever I made out this yarn had to be something special, but a scarf wasn't going to be it.....

What I finally made was this....

Last week when I was in Michaels craft store I found the handles.... btw Michales has really funky/cool purse handles! I knew right away that this yarn would go perfect with these handles!! I snagged them up, came home and by that night the knitted piece for the purse was done and being blocked. I'm tickled with the result. I finished it up yesterday and it was hanging on one of the kitchen pantry door handles when Sherm got home. Now Sherm normally doesn't say too much about my crafts and stuff unless I ask his oinion, but he noticed it right away and said that it turned out pretty neat! I lined it with some purple tie dye cotton from the quilting wall at Jo-Annes. I intended to add a purple and orange felt flower, but when I finished the flower and held it up to the purse it made the purse look very teenish and I didn't want that at all so I left it off. While I was at Michaels I found some neat ribbon type yarns that were discounted from $8.99 to $3.00. I plan on making more purses/bags. I've seen bags made out of rafia, plastic grocery bags cut into strips, blue jeans cut into strips and even lace knitted up.

Just a few tips

When reaching for this

Make sure you don't grab this! DOH!

I quickly caught my mistake before any further mistakes could take place. I then decided it was time to put my glasses back on. I reached for them and they took a swan dive off the counter in the bathroom into this

oh yes... Tuesday has been a difficult one and all that was before 8am!!

On another note... I found a new poll host. I'm pleased to announce my Tuesday polls are back!!

Off to get some gas and drop off our Netflix return in the mailbox. Going back in Mr and Mrs Smith. Not a bad movie. quite funny, but was a bit edgy in a few little places for an 11 year old. We had remote in hand ready to fast forward just as the scene changed lol

TGIF!!!

It's Friday!!!!
Woo Hoo!!!!
I'm just sitting down relaxing from being on the go for the whole day. Left the house at about 9am... got home around 3ish. Stopped in to see Dad and the step Mom... came home and I sat down for about an hour before Sherm got home from work and we headed out for our usual Friday night fast food dinner and a little while ago I sat and finished knitting the body of a purse I knit from my "With a twist of lemon" homespun yarn when we got home from dinner. It seems like I've been running and running and it's not going to stop any time soon. Dad and my Step Mom have nasty colds.. the step mom made herself sicker by not stopping an antibiotic when she started having a reaction... a very bad reaction!! The kind that you're suppose to contact the Dr right away and she let it go for 3 days, kind of reaction! She has sores on her head... the runs non-stop and she was sick to her stomache. UGH! (sorry if all that was too much info) She went back to the Dr. today and they took chest x-rays and she's starting heart congestion(congestive heart failure?) They gave her a new antibiotic and upped her water pill. I never get compete details... she only hears what she wants to hear. I really wish I could go to the Dr with them sometimes.... It sure would make me feel better about some of the things Dad and her tell us. Half the time I think we only get what she "thinks" is what's going on. I have to go down a few times a day to wash out the the sores on her head and apply ointment to them... I asked my sister if she'd go on Sunday since she's off work and she refused..."uh uh.. not me!" then offered to pay me to do it *sigh* I washed up their dishes tonight and Mikey took out their trash... Sherms going to help Dad tomorrow with a problem they've been having with their new furnace. Boy that furnace company doesn't want to show up when I'm around let me tell ya... I'll give them the "what for" and rip them a new "you know what"! You just don't let a senior citizen, limited income couple go for 3 weeks with a damper stuck open and a furnace blowing hot air out through the A/C unit than into the house! Dad's been waiting for them to show up for 3 weeks now.. he's called them several times and he finally said to heck with it. I know he can be a pain to work for(he used to own a big heating and plumbing business), but this is a major problem that's costing them a lot of money. They paid a lot of money for this new furnace and it's till under warrenty.

Well... enough of my rambling. I' m off to go poke at my knitted square for the purse. It's wet and being blocked right now. I want to make sure it's holding it's shape. hehe... ok ok.. I have to look at it again. My homemade yarn knitted up really cool! I'll post pictures in a few days of the final project.

Quizzie thingy

Captain Quack Rubber Duck Quiz

My anxiety is trying hard to show it's evil face today. I keep taking deep breathes and getting through it. Oh well.... pleh!

Moving on...
My cell phone seems to be acting up. The screen on the front isn't displaying anything anymore. I hate it... I used as a watch and as a way of seeing who was calling before I answered the phone. I've turned it off and on several times, took out the battery and the sim card (I know the sim card has nothing to do with it, but I had to mess with it! lol) Nothing worked... in fact, at first it had just the word "Cingular" on it, but now even that is gone. The light still works thought! lol Sherm is going to have to switch back to his old phone and I might have to too. *sigh* so much for my cute little foldy phone hehe :)

Off to watch my soap

Yaaahooooooo!

I just installed Yahoo! Instant Messanger on my laptop (yep that still sounds so friggin' cool!). I also installed a thingy over in the left column to let you know if I'm on-line. Thereal test will later when Mikey signs on his Yahoo! ID. Will both ID's run on the same IP number at the same time? If you have Yahoo! and want to add me my user name is mrssquidley

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and commented yesterday and today! Boy it was nice to log on today and see all the comments. I'm glad you like my new design. I was worried it might be too much on the eyes and on load time. I really like that lace background so it may become my permenant BG and I'll work around it with changing the top banner and other thingys :P *shrug* Never can tell though... I'm not much of one for leaving a design unchanged for too long. It might get dusty or something LOL

We've had all kinds of rain today and boy do my knees know it.
American Idol started agian last night!! Woo Hoo!! And I'm sooooo happy that tonights show isn't going to overlap the new episode of Lost. Last season we had to choose between the two shows... hopefully they keep them they way it is now. I'm not sure I can even figure out how record on a VCR anymore! lol I know Sherm can do it... thank God!!

Ok off to go get Mikey from school. Have a great Wednesday Dudes and Dudettes!

Who's out there?

Bloggers listen up! Think no one listens to your opinion? Think that B***ch at the chicken join is going to get away with throwing your food at you? Think no one cares you can't open that new fancy jar of spaghetti sauce? Think again! Businesses are watching what you say on your blogs and on message boards and they are listening to what you think and say about their products and businesses...

It's been quite a long time since I checked my stat counter. For the most part I know my visitors... they are real life friends, family and friends I've made over this here moshine (spelled that way on purpose :P) Anyway ... I decided to check my stats for some reason just now and discovered a few hits from a site that I had never heard of... so... being the curious type that I am I check out the site! lol It's called Umbria Inc. It's about time businesses finally started listening to the real consumer!

While I was in my stats I had to look at the keywords searches...
I only get a few, but when I get them they tend to be strange
"squid hibernate"
"coyotes lakeland ny"
The last one is interesting...
"mrs accordion"
lol

ok off to start dinner!

New Yarn

Ok, it's not totally new. I've had it spun for a while now, I got chicken and stopped there. Long story, but it was hanging out on my spindle and I just stopped after I plied it. Well the other day I said to heck with it and finally took it off the spindle and set the twist. It's Kool-Aid dyed and approx. 68 yards.

Winter Weather Advisory
... Winter returns in dramatic fashion this afternoon... A strong low pressure system over southwest Pennsylvania this morning will move into western New England this afternoon. Cold air poised over the Great Lakes will blast into central New York and northeast Pennsylvania this afternoon... wiping out our extended stretch of unseasonably mild weather in just a few hours. The leading edge of cold air is expected to move into the central southern tier and Finger Lakes region early this afternoon... and exit the western Catskills and Poconos by late in the day. Windswill abruptly shift to the northwest and become strong and gusty with speeds increasing to 20 to 30 mph... gusting at times around 40mph. Temperatures will likely fall by 10 to 20 degrees in amatter of a few hours. This will cause any lingering rain to change over to snow. As temperatures continue to fall below freezing early this evening... wet roads may freeze up with a thin glaze of ice... potentially causing very hazardous travel. Strong winds will continue overnight with air temperatures falling further into the teens. Expect wind chill values early Sunday morning to range from zero to 10 below.

oh yes... only in NY. We were 60 degrees yesterday...
way out of the norm and today winter is going to return with a vengeance! This
time of year we are usually hip deep in snow and headed to our coldest time of
the winter. Which is usually somewhere a day or so either way of January
20th-ish. I had on shorts lastnight! I was burning up.... course a small
part of that could be the fact I have a nasty sinus infection going on and I
think the antibiotics the Dr put me on were having a major battle in my
system with the infection. lol The birds know the weather is going to change
as they are rushing and crowding at the feeders. There's even a few Nuthatch
at mine.. Usually they refer what Josie next door has in her feeder, but
they are at both feeders this morning.

So, what's in your....

.... front yard?

There are turkeys in mine!!

This is the same pack of turkey's that I posted a picture of back in the Spring. They love our neighborhood. The ladies up around the bend have been feeding them, but now they went to Florida for the rest of the winter and the turkeys are looking for another bird feeder person who will also feed them.... guess that's going to be me! After my sister and I pick our step mother this morning I'll be headed to the farmers co-op for some cracked corn. Hey... I feed other birds... why not these birds, right?

A quick note about my polls... I found another poll service that I'm going to try out and I'll be posting a new poll later today or this evening. Thank's to CJ for pointing out the bad ads that were showing up on blogpoll.com, the old service I was using.

Kinda busy and tired

I haven't really hade much ambition to post or the time to think about posting. My step Mom is in the hospital... no worries though. She had a really bad nose bleed after a run in with a can on the top shelf in the grocery store. The bleeding didn't start until almost nine hours later. Long story very short. Her blood pressure was way high so they are keeping her until things calm down. She lost a ton of blood too and they had to give her 2 units of blood (so far). I kicked out one of the Dr. she got in the ER... stupid resident was watching TV, asking her questions and then asked her to repete somethihng she said. Then shortly after he came in and yelled at her for sitting up... she was sitting up coughing up a HUGE blood clot in she was gagging on!! Stupid Land of Sand import Dr. Wanna-be!!

Evil mom scares kid!

While watching the 5pm news yesterday this story [Coyotes in Lakeland neighborhood threaten household pets] (sorry...slow loading video) was one we payed a lot of attention to. Not only is Lakeland about 2 miles (as the crow flys) from us, but we've had our own coyotes right here in the woods across the street. We even saw one cross the street in front of us in the truck one day. We also have a friend who used to live out in the country on the other side of town who's husband had to shoot a coyote one day. So talk of coyotes isn't something new in this household. I've heard coyote cries in the Baldwinsville area since '73 or '74. They are nothing new to me. I know they rule the woods. You find one... leave. Slowly, but you leave and you never.. never approach a pup, but we have pets so we wanted to pay attention to this story.

Anyway.....
I'm not sure if it was the story on the news or Mikey and I talking about the coyotes that got his "hearing" a bit sensitive to the coyote call or what, but later in the evening after I had Mikey run some recyclables out to the recycling bin, when he came back in he said he wasn't going out there again because he "heard" coyotes. Ummm I think his "hearing" was fueled a bit by the news story of how the coyotes got someones small dog. Or he could have been hearing the computer calling his name *wise Mom-grin*
Anyway.....
Later in the evening while we were doing some cleaning Sherm was attacking our desk and getting rid of old papers when he ran into the book for my car. I had him put it on Mikey's desk and asked Mikey to run it out to my car along with an air freshener for my car that was suppose to stay in the car after a stop at the grocery store the other day, but was brought in by mistake.
I don't think he remembered what he said about not going back out there because he didn't put up any kind of fight about it.

In steps.... Dum dum dummmmm... (that was super-villain music) Evil Mom!!
I watched from the kitchen window as he went to my car....
Watching...
watching... he can't see me...
Yes!
He'd left the car door open.

I opened the top of one of the kitchen windows...
Just a smidge was all that was needed...
I almost laughed out loud... I'm not good at things like this...
But I managed to take a deep breath and...
"Aroooooooo"

In the car was Mikey, white as can be and he froze. Looking at who knows what... he was like a deer caught in headlights behind the steeringwheel of my car.
He looked like he might pee himself!
I almost pee'd myself holding back wild laughter!
I couldn't hold back the laughter any longer...
I started laughing while the window was still open and he heard me!
The look on his face was priceless...
I know I have it coming to me, but it's not everyday that I get a chance to "get" someone like that.
MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The gun "went off"

...."I'm facing him. I pull the gun out and point it at him and tell him to back up. He backs up a step or two," Pennyfeather, 18, said in his statement. He said the gun then "went off" and fired one shot, and Butler fell to the ground."

Ahhhh HA! It's the old... "I don't know what happened.. the-gun-just-went-off-cry-for-any-sympathy-I-can-get-plea" Then to top it off our courts here are so friggin f-d up they almost let the thug go because of insufficient paperwork UGH!!!
No wonder we have shootings going on... come on you can shoot anyone you want.. if you get caught there's a chance the court will let you go because other offices can't do their jobs correctly!
This happens all the time here!

This back and forth battle between the courts and the DA's office really looks good to the criminals. Come on Syracuse... get your heads out of your butts and look as professional as you say you are!! I wish I was a voter in the city... these goofs would out QUICK!
Still

Yep and I'm feeling a tad bit more anxious about this today as Mikey is on a field trip to the city with school today!! I gave him the talk this morning before he left... "Don't talk to anyone... be careful what you say to even your friends... don't say anything to anyone that can be overheard by a stranger..."He got a bit ticked at me and in a slightly elevated tone said "I KNOW MOM!" Yep.. I know he knows, but I had to do my Mom thing and make sure he had it refreshed before going :)

Boy am I tied today... Sherm and I stayed up and watched the Rose Bowl. Good game... worth the loss of sleep, but I'm feeling it this morning.*yawn*

oh yes I don't think I've mentioned the addition we have here at the "house of many critters". We have a mouse!! It's an uninvited mouse!! It's been here for a few weeks now. Discovered a few days before Christmas because it ate a whole package of dog treats I had picked up for the dogs for Christmas and I had them in on our dresser. Gone!! In less than 24 hours! Not even a crumb left for the doggies. Since then it has managed to avoid all traps we've set for it. It ate part of a bar of my homemade soap (mice love homemade soap). Has been spotted by the puppy in the kitchen cabinet (made the puppy bark at the cabinet for hours yesterday! lol) and has driven our older dog nuts. This is the house of 3 cats and not a one of them is even making an attempt to mouse hunt. I bet they don't even know there' a mouse in the house! The dogs on the other hand are the ones that are interested. Abby(our older dog) is really wanting to hunt the thing. She's so silly. We think it might be living behind the washer or under the drier. Abby will lay at the puppy gate watching down the hall for hours and if she hears or sees it she'll get all excited. I made the mistake of letting her down the hall yesterday... I jumped and screamed when I heard the mouse behind the washer and Abby was trying to get in behind the dryer! lol I don't do mice!

It's also...

and
Blender Day
hmmmm...
Spaghetti smoothie anyone??
EWWWW.....PLEH! ROFL!
Chicken and biscuits here for dinner. Non-blended!! lol

No major things going on. It's a good hump day! Now if only Lost was on tonight instead of football *sigh* I don't mind totally. Most of the bowl games we've watched so far have been good. How about last nights game? Sherm and I finally gave up watching at about 12:30 when it was tied up at the end of the 4th and went to sleep. I like the games that are really close like it was last night.

We had another shooting in the city of Syracuse yesterday afternoon. I'm going to keep a running total for the year as these shootings take place. This time it was a
17year old high school football player.
Keep in mind that this running total of shootings is only shootings and not a running total of shootings and gun shots heard throughout the city on a daily basis. 1 sensless shooting in the city of Syracuse NY so far for 2006

I think I'll keep another total too... number of deaths as a result of these shootings... this one will probably lead to another and then another and another and....

1 shooting
0 deaths

Holy robin(?) batman!

Can it be? I think it is! *blink* *get closer to the window.. move the curtain more* I squinted my eyes. The sun isn't fully up yet and this is the time of day that almost seems the darkest.I cupped my hand around my eyes to block the light from the room and I put them up agianst the window. Yes it was... one, two, three, four? yes! it was 4 of them! Four robins in my neighbors front yard! Still not believing what I think I saw, I watched them for a few minutes longer. Emma across the street came out to get her paper and she must have thought I was nuts standing in my window the way I was. The robins heard something and darted up into a near-by tree. Then back to the ground again. It was then that I truely knew they were robins for sure. That fast fast walk they do without moving their heads. Almost a run and then that hop as they take flight again. Yep, they are robins for sure. But aren't robins suppose to go South for the winter? A good 90% of the winter we don't see grass. What do they eat if the ground is covered with snow? Well that just got me to thinking. I'm not sure I really know where robins go in the winter or what they eat besides worms. So off to google I went and this is what I found out.

Some robins stay in central New York all winter! Read the story here.

To sum it up... as long as a robin can find a constant source of food they will stay put in the winter. Robins also eat berries not just worms. There are woods across the street from my house that are full of berry bushes, there is a running stream and a good amount of uncovered ground. Who'd-a-thunk!

Pardon the look of this blog throughout the day... I'm going to be messing with some new colors and maybe I'll be trying out a background image for something new. It's time for a change and I simply can not stand that blury header image any longer!

It runs in the family

Oh yes... the men in this family are a strange sort.

And that's all I have to say about that.

My sister came over for dinner tonight. I'm thinking we may just have stuff again tomorrow for dinner because we still have so much snacky type food here. There's sandwich meats, shrimp ball, rye boat and summer sausage bits in sauce.

ohhhh I ran the snowblower yesterday... the new big one. I'm not sure I'll b e able to operate it safely without Sherm here to engage the tiller turny thingy (for thelife of me I can't think of what that thing is called) anyway... even he has a hard time working the lever. I'm sure it just needs adjusting.

Hmmmmm... I think the pup has the right idea. She's kickin' it /back in the living on the couch. Think I'll join her and watch Christmas with the Kranks with the men.

Happy New Year

So...
How do you go outside to get your paper on New Years Day??Brrrrrr!!

We set up my laptop (that still sounds cool!) for my camera software just a little while ago. My first picture of the year had to be of my sweetie and it's the first picture off my camera on my new laptop (yep.. cool sounding again!)

My sister came over lastnight to ring in the new year and we all had a great time. Mikey and Sherm played video and or computer games while my sister and I surfed the net in the kitchen on my laptop(way cool again)

Dinner was pizza and calzones... calzones for Mikey and I and pizza for Sherm and my sister. My sister and I had gone to the store in the afternoon yeaterday and bought all kinda of snack type foods and the makings for dinner... we only got into the dinner makings. We have a ton of snack makings here... guess I better dig into something and lay out some food so it doesn't go to waste. So it can go to waist instead! lol (ok that was bad)

Laundry is about to crawl out the rafters too... guess I better get busy and start something other than playing on my laptop (coolness! hehe :)
Again....
Happy New Year everyone!
